"I paint because I can only do seriously what amuses me"

At just three weeks old, I found myself in a town in the middle of nowhere in the land of Islam. That didn't stop my governess from having apparitions of the Virgin Mary.

A few years later, I attended a Kabuki play in the Land of the Rising Sun. My parents were convinced that I would be bored to death, and instead I was fascinated by the haunting spectacle of these characters dressed in sumptuous kimonos and overly made-up, uttering guttural cries punctuated by the sound of gongs.

The sequel takes place at the end of my childhood on a tropical beach in the middle of the night by candlelight. Macumba priestesses dressed in white dance around a young girl agitated by frantic trembling.

This youth spent in the four corners of the world has forged in me an impermanent identity which is reflected in the multiculturalism of my works.

My propensity to transcribe reality on canvas is systematically contrasted by my sense of play. I enjoy distorting colors or introducing a touch of surrealism. The materiality of the world is thus subtly transformed into a colorful and poetic universe.

Coming from an aristocratic Belgian family that distinguished itself in diplomacy, I broke with tradition by becoming an artist. I first attended an academy in Brussels, then I perfected my skills in academic figurative art at the Vlamish Classical Atelier in Bruges, as well as by following the Master Classes of the Academy of Art in Florence. In 2011, I had the honor of winning the 1st Prize for Painting at the International Portrait Salon with my painting "The Maharadja". Currently, I live and create in Brussels. I execute both contemporary figurative paintings and portraits.
